Challenges Women Face

February 23, 2016

Dear Julie:

My fiance and I have been together off and on for 19 years. During those years there has been violence and infidelity. My parents divorced when I was twelve and I promised myself that would never happen to me. I don’t want to fail my relationship, but sometimes fear so much has happened between us, I’ll never really get over some of it. I’m not really happy. I would love your advice. Thank you. -Lost

Dear Lost:

Let me put it to you straight. This man is not interested in a real commitment with you. He’s kept you dangling for 19 years by calling this an engagement. During these years your relationship has been marked by violence and infidelity. You say you are not really happy.

Yet your concern is that YOU will fail your relationship. Dear one, from here it looks like HE’s the one who has failed. Have you ever considered the freedom you’d experience by not living in fear? Make 2016 the year for YOU to step out in faith, take God’s hand and let Him lead you out of captivity and into the sunshine of His love.

God bless you,
