Feeling Hopeless

Facing Our Challenges Head-On

October 23, 2015

Dear Julie: I have been going through so much. First my ex-husband stole things from our home where once we raised our children, then he files for divorce and walked out on us.

Going through divorce, he evicted me and his daughter out of the home where we’ve been living for 22 years He moved back to the home with his 26-year-old girlfriend. I’m living with my son.

I lost everything but my personal things. Then in June 30, 2015, as I was leaving home to take my daughter to school, a car lost control going about 100 mph. It flew over the top of us. The young male driver died but we had only bumps and bruises. I thank God that we were covered by Christ’s blood.

I didn’t have a job but through all this I kept giving all the praises to God. I have kept humble but sometimes I just want to stay in bed.–Humbled

Dear Humbled: Your story is heartbreaking and I have to say that only God’s grace and strength can keep someone going through all of this. It’s no wonder you sometimes want to stay in bed. I commend you, my sister in Christ, for praising God through it all. I pray you are sensing His presence and I pray that your path will become easier in the days ahead. Do you have a network of friends/church family who can help you out? Have you checked with charitable organizations in your area for emergency aid and help finding a job?

In the meantime, I encourage all our readers to join me in praying for you to not lose heart and for you to sense God’s presence with you. He has a plan for you and hope is just around the bend. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Remember, friends, as challenges come our way,
we can face them head-on
through Christ who strengthens us!
