Tired of Excuses

 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

December 13, 2016

Dear Julie:

I need a little advice. Me and my husband have had some disagreements these last few months. However, he says that he loves me but he has gained this pattern where he leaves home just about every weekend to supposedly go stay at his mom’s house. When he leaves, I don’t hear from him until Sunday before he comes back home. I have been praying constantly and have started to notice a little change but he still tries to make excuses for leaving. –Tired of Excuses

Dear Tired of Excuses:

Seems like you have some options to get to the bottom of this.

1) Call his mother to verify. (Would she tell you the truth?)
2) Hire a detective, or follow your husband to find out where he goes.
3) Believe him and go on like you’re doing.

On the surface, it sure looks like you’re being wronged. No matter what he says about loving you, marital love does not include regular “unexcused” absences. Does your husband have a history of unfaithfulness? Or is his unfaithfulness the reason for your recent disagreements? (Or is he using the disagreements as rationale for being unfaithful to you?)

It’s good you’re praying constantly and taking this to the Lord. Now sit down with your husband and calmly, without accusations, ask him what’s going on. You can’t go on like this. He owes you the truth.

God bless you,
