Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

September 29, 2017

Dear Julie:

I have come to you before concerning my now husband and it’s hard dealing with this man. I try to be the loving person God wants me to be for him but I don’t get the same in return. It’s crazy but I have to blame myself for going back. Now that I’m married to him, what am I to do? He just found out he’s sick and I try to be there for him because he has no family. I pray and ask God to touch him. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Please pray for me. –Trying to Love

Dear Trying to Love:

As you’ve found out, it’s so much easier to walk away when you’re not married. There’s no point in, as my mother used to say, crying over spilled milk, but we do have to mop up our messes. You are right to ask for prayer. God is where the answers are found.

Is it possible that his illness is to blame for his lack of affection and love? Sometimes when we are sick physically, we are affected mentally and emotionally as well.

“Father, I ask for your guidance and protection for my friend. Help her to love her husband even when she doesn’t get love in return. Help her to be an example of Christ-like unconditional love and, in so doing, help her husband come to believe the Word of God without talk but rather by her behavior when he sees the purity and reverence of her life (I Peter 3:2). Help her to love him in sickness and in health and give her strength to be all you want her to be. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

God bless you, dear one. Julie
