Daughter of the King

Meeting Our Challenges Head-On!

January 12, 2016

Dear Julie: My New Year started out with a broken heart. He left me on new years day, he said he was tired of me, and didn’t love me. (He was just saying that we were getting married.) I don’t know what to tell my kids about why he left. I don’t want to keep starting over – I just don’t understand how can he leave and give me no answers. I was on my knees begging him and he still left. It feels like my heart is separating from my body. Please pray for me and thank u for taking the time. – Broken-Hearted

Dear Broken-Hearted: What a way to start the new year, right? I’m really sorry and am praying for you. Since your boyfriend won’t give you any answers, it’s hard for you to know whether anything you say or do can make a difference. Has he always been this non-communicative? Or has he, in the past, given you any clues as to why he was unhappy?

You don’t say whether the children are his. If they are, then there’s all the more reason for him to give an explanation and to provide for them in the future.

You said you don’t want to keep starting over. Has he left you before or have there been others who have broken your heart? This matters because there may be things you do or say, things you aren’t even aware of that are pushing others away from you. Have you a trusted friend you could ask about this?

Something I picked up on is that you said you begged him on your knees not to leave. This could suggest to him that you are desperate and have no self-respect. This, dear one, is not a message you want to convey. After all, if you are God’s child, you are a child of the King and, as such, a princess. The only one you should get down on your knees for is God himself.

And that’s what I’d advise you to do. Go to God in prayer. Lay it all out before him. Ask for his help and guidance through His holy word, the Bible. Go to your pastor or a trusted Christian woman and ask for their insights. This week I read something to the effect that if I put God first, everything else will fall into place. And, actually, that’s biblical. Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Please know that I and our readers will pray for you and that we wish you the very best. Remember you are a daughter of the King! God bless, Julie
