Asking for Strength

 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

May 6, 2016

Dear Julie:

I’ve already made my bad situation leave, as of Jan 5. We were together 4 yrs, married 2 as of April. He is hooked on pain meds. He has a legitimate reason for taking them, but due to taking them for so long, he abuses them. He’s verbally, mentally, and physically abusive to all when he abuses pills. Man, woman, child, animal, it doesn’t matter.

I know I did the right thing. I’m just asking for strength. It’s still difficult to walk away from someone you love. No matter what the reason. So I ask for prayers of strength and determination. I also ask God to remember my husband needs him more than anything right now. My husband has done me wrong and he doesn’t deserve me but I don’t want God to give up on him. Pray for all of us. Please!! -Asking for Strength

Dear Asking for Strength:

It’s obvious you still care deeply for your husband despite all that’s gone on, despite the unfairness you’ve experienced, and despite his actions. You didn’t sign up for that kind of treatment and no one could blame you for wanting out.

Yet, I love that you pray for him and that you don’t want God to give up on him. And I have to ask what would happen if you didn’t give up on him either? What would happen if you said you would let him back into your life but only after he got counseling, went through rehab, and turned his life over to God?

Only you know how much you have already given and how much more you can take. No one is here to judge you–only to ask questions and try to bring peace and healing. I will pray for your strength and determination to do whatever you feel God is asking of you. And I ask our readers to pray for you, too.

God bless,
Julie
