Challenges Women Face

November 22, 2016

Dear Julie:
I’m a believer in God and Jesus Christ. I confess my sins on a daily basis. The good the bad and the ugly. I ask God to help me with with my sins before I make my supplications. My problem is I don’t know how to give God my problems without taking them back. I don’t know how to wait for what I ask of him without leaning on my own understanding. Then I feel guilty about not being faithful when I know better.

Also I ask him to help me move on from people who don’t mean me any good. But then I feel sorry for the person and give them a another chance. Help me before I be doomed to hell.–Can’t Get Right

Dear Can’t Get Right:
Hey, guess what. You are not alone. I doubt there is anyone out there who doesn’t get impatient while waiting on God to work ALL THINGS together for good. In our pride we think we know best. But in Proverbs 3:5-6 we are advised: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.”

Trusting God rather than ourselves is a constant struggle, one that even the Apostle Paul had. Read what he said in the final verses of Romans 7. “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God–through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.”

The good news is Paul follows that statement with this from Chapter 8. “Therefore, there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus . . . .” God knows we struggle, He understands our frame, and He is patient with us. Even when we are faithless, He remains faithful.

As for the other issue you raise, sometimes it is wise to distance ourselves from people who are bad for you. Ask God for discernment to know when and if you should let them back in your life . . . and then trust he’ll guide you in your relationships. Don’t let people back in your life that God clearly tells you to avoid.

God bless you, Julie
