Can’t Stop Crying

 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

May 27, 2016

Dear Julie:

Don’t know where to start. My fiance was killed in a car accident 6 years ago. I have been on disability for an eye problem. To mask the pain of my loss, I went to school and got my Associates degree. Now at 51, I can’t find a job. I’m feeling extremely lonely and depressed.

I don’t get enough money each month to cover my bills, so I rob Peter to pay Paul. I also recently got out of a relationship where the guy I was with is going around bad-mouthing me and accusing me of doing stuff I never did. I’m trying to get my life together but I feel like time is running out. Please help! –Can’t stop crying

Dear Can’t Stop Crying:

I’m sorry for the many troubles you have faced and are facing and imagine many of our readers can relate to your problems. Death of a loved one is heartbreaking. Health issues derail us. Depression and loneliness can overtake us. Financial burdens can overwhelm us. Not to mention relational issues….

BUT you must get help. As a Christian, I know that the only true and lasting help comes from the LORD. The Psalmist said, “It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes” (Psalm 118?8-9). Get into the Bible and read it. Let God speak to you through His word. If you have no relationship with Him, cry out to Him. He has said that those who seek Him will find Him. “But if you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deuteronomy 4:29).

God also sends us help in the person of pastors and Christian counselors. Seek them out. Many Christian counselors offer free services, others offer services on a sliding scale.

Seek help also in your search for employment. In my town there’s an organization called Lutheran Community Services that helps people find employment. Check to see what’s available in your town.

I have added you to my prayer list and hope you will soon be on your feet. God will give you the strength you need through Jesus Christ who will strengthen you (Philippians 4:13).
God bless, Julie.
