 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

September 2, 2016

Dear Julie:

I have had a really heart breaking past. I grew up in a home without much love, my dad wasn’t involved in my life, and I witnessed a lot of toxic behaviors growing up. I always felt so very misunderstood. However I began my walk with God and accepted Jesus Christ as my lord and savior several years back. I’ve always felt the Holy Spirit within me even as a young child, although I lost that innocence sometime back. I’m learning to walk by Faith and accept that I don’t have to be perfect and I am completely capable of giving and receiving love.

Even though I’ve come such a long way, I still feel performance anxiety and feel completely insecure around certain people, especially men that I’m attracted to.

How do I share my self with the world and get over my fears of judgement and not being worthy enough?–Feeling Insecure

Dear Feeling Insecure:

Learning to walk by faith is a process. It can take a long time to recognize who we are in Christ. Those of us who have a tendency to be performance-based have to learn that God loves us completely. Why? Because when He looks at us, He sees us through the person of His only begotten and perfect Son. There’s nothing we can do to make Him love us more or make Him love us less. Positionally, we are IN CHRIST and, as such, are joint heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17).

Do you realize what that means? It means you are a child of the KING OF KINGS! You are a princess. You can stand straight and tall. Once you can grasp this fact, you’ll find it much easier not to be intimidated and insecure around anyone.

Instead, you will be freed up to be like your older brother Jesus, the kind and gentle, humble and caring healer. You will learn to focus on others’ needs instead of your own insecurities.

And one last thing, forget about ever pleasing everyone. People are quick to judge, but that’s their problem. God your Father is for you–and if He is for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8:31) You go out there and share yourself with the world. Go in the confidence of one who knows she is an ambassador of Christ.

God bless,
Julie
