Challenges Women Face

February 12, 2016

Dear Julie:

I met a man just like me who is dealing with a break up. I know the pain. I’ve been crying out to God on his behalf for healing and God was answering. He was getting out and just living when at first he sat around sad not eating just mad at the world!!! My company changed that!! His sister said you’re moving too fast and you’re just gonna get hurt again (instead of just saying be careful, make sure you stay alert.)

Reason being I’m moving to a new place and she thought he would leave her with her abusive husband (and besides at times she need him to babysit!) So that discouraged him a lot he pulled back. He admitted he was scared but wanted me and just wanted to move slow! I agreed but I felt in my heart he is the man I prayed to come into my life. He respects me and is in detail everything I prayed and cried out for. So I feel like the devil knows that and is working thru his family, but they are being selfish and not thinking of his happiness but theirs!!!

I would like prayer to change his heart to see that and for the healing of his heart!!! And patience to assist him thru this pain! I’ve told him he can always talk about pain and cry on my shoulder! I know what it feels like to love and be destroyed! Please give me direction. It’s like he started slow motion but then ignored me–and that gave me a flash back to my past!!! So he wants to start back together but I’m scared cause I felt so hurt when he ignored me those days!!! Yet if he is the man God sent I don’t wanna miss out on my blessings!!! -Feeling Unsure

Dear Unsure:

You and your fellow have been traumatized by past breakups. I would suggest you both become comfortable with each other as friends, friends who have learned to trust one another, to look out for each other’s well-being. Then you will be able to move on to the next level with confidence. Don’t rush into something prematurely. How will you know when you’re ready to have a deeper relationship? When you can say these words truthfully about each other:

You are patient, you are kind. You do not envy, you do not boast, you are not proud. You are not rude, you are not self-seeking, you are not easily angered, you keep no record of wrongs. You do not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth. You always protect, always trust, always hope, always persevere. (I Corinthians 13:4-7 paraphrased).

When you can be that kind of woman and he can be that kind of man, then you will have found a true life-partner. God bless you. Julie
