Heartbroken to Pieces

 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

March 22, 2016

Dear Julie:

I need help. I fell in love with this man. But I fell in love too fast I’ve only known him for about 6 months. On New Year’s eve I comforted him about some messages and pics I saw on his phone. Yes I went through it. Bad mistake. Now things between us are not the same. I forgave him but at the same time I don’t think he’s forgiven me yet even though he says he has. I want to ask him about our relationship but I’m afraid of what he might say.. Do you think I need to ask him…. It’s literally killing me emotionally… I’m depressed and had to go to the Dr… He doesn’t know the Dr gave me meds for depression… Does he need to know? What do I do?? –Heartbroken to Pieces

Dear Heartbroken:

You are correct. You fell in love too fast. True love starts slow and builds into a relationship based on mutual respect and admiration. From what you’ve shared, it doesn’t sound like there’s much respect or admiration going on here.

First of all, what kind of messages and pics were on his phone? Were they things that shouldn’t have been on a respectable person’s phone? And secondly, what business did you have looking through his phone messages in the first place? That was intrusive and probably sent up giant red flags in his mind.

I believe you need to step back, take a deep breath, and let this relationship develop on its own–or let it die. You are on an emotional roller coaster over a man you barely know.

Praying you’ll let God bring the man of your dreams into your life and, when He does, that you will exercise godly wisdom and restraint. Study 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 to learn about true love.

Blessings,
Julie
