 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

December 30, 2016

Dear Julie:

Hi. I am 21. I have a one year old daughter. I’ve been with her dad for five years and recently we split up. It’s been seven months. I’ve caught him with women, but a part of me still wants a family. He’s been very verbally and, at times, physically abusive. Very disrespectful and uncaring. It damaged me a lot. I have no hope and faith of ever having love again. I want to be a wife, but I feel I will never have a chance because of how broken I am. I don’t know if I want to cry or just die at times. I want to feel regular and at peace and to love myself, but I give up on trying. –Help Needed
Dear Help Needed:

Believe it or not, you will have other chances to meet nice men, men who will not be physically or verbally abusive, men who will be respectful and caring. Right now, you need to find healing. And you will find that healing in the tender arms of your loving heavenly Father. God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Read the Bible, soak in the love God has for you, pray, and let God minister to your spirit. Is there a godly woman in your church who will take you under her wing and help you in the process of healing?

For your child’s sake, if not for your own, you will want to put this abusive relationship behind you. Her father will, hopefully, want to see her and maintain a relationship with her. But that doesn’t mean you and he need to start all over again–at least, not until he cleans up his act and treats you with respect.

God bless you,
