 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

March 11, 2016

Dear Julie:

First and foremost, thank you for all the wonderful advice that you give to all and for the most beautiful prayers! I have been so so so sad and devastated I don’t know how to move on!

I have been married for 25 years. Within those 25 years we have gotten separated 3 times and now we are on the 4th! He has moved on, he doesn’t love me anymore! I understand everybody gets tired with the fighting! But I love my family. I wanted to grow old with him and be happy! I have dedicated myself to prayer and reading the bible at all times. I believe in the power of prayer! I don’t want to get a divorce! I want to continue fighting in prayer for my marriage!

But the only thing he shows is that he is done. He does not care for me one bit! Should I just accept it and move on? I can tell you that his coldness and indifference towards me hurts me so much! I feel so lonely and hurt! We haven’t spoken for over 2 months! I want the pain to go away! –Lonely and Hurt

Dear Lonely and Hurt:

My heart aches for you. Your marriage appears to be over. But just remember, with God all things are possible. He can change the hearts of kings so I am sure He can change the heart of a husband.

You say there’s been a lot of conflict over the past 25 years and, yes, that can get anybody down. Maybe it’s a little late in the game to get family counseling, but is that a possibility? Would your husband make one last attempt to make your marriage work?

If he’s dead-set against saving your marriage, then you really don’t have any recourse but to let him go. Continue to pray for him, though, that he’ll repent and work toward reconciliation. And, while you wait, turn to God. Cast your care on Him for He cares for you. You are His precious child and he hates divorce (Malachi 2: 16). But He will see you through, will be with you every step of the way, and, like so many of our readers have shared recently, you will emerge from this triumphant!

Blessings,
Julie
