Challenges Women Face

March 8, 2016

Dear Julie:

Me and my son’s dad have been together almost 4 yrs. I love him so much and hope one day we will get married. But I can’t see myself being with someone who’s always in and out of jail and not spending quality time with his son like he’s supposed to. Part of me wants to work it out and the other part wants to end it and just be friends and take care our son together. -Sign me Confused

Dear Sign Me Confused:

Since you love your son’s dad so much and since he obviously has issues, I have mixed feelings about a continued relationship with him. On the plus side, where true love is, there is hope. On the other hand, is he equally in love with you, such that he’d stay out of trouble in order to keep you?

If no, then you have your answer. It’s time to move on.

If yes, however, then family counseling may be helpful. Why don’t you suggest that route? If he’s not willing, then maybe you’d be wise to end it and just be friends. You and your son deserve the permanency and stability of a family where godly living is practiced.

May God direct your steps,
Julie
