Challenges Women Face

September 13, 2016

Dear Julie:

I’ve been with my child’s father for 8 yrs and we now have a one year old. In those 8 yrs we’ve been through some trying times but all of a sudden, towards the end of my pregnancy, he didn’t want to be with me anymore. He talks to other women. We stay in the same house because he has nowhere to go. It’s so hard. How do I let go? –Together but Apart

Dear Together but Apart:

Sounds like your man is acting very normally . . . for a kid. He’s not willing to man up and accept the responsibility of fatherhood. As long as he had all the benefits of a home without any of the “burdens” he was okay. Suddenly the thoughts of a baby tied him down.

But like the immature person he is, he hasn’t the decency to leave the nest. If he wants out, he should move out, get an apartment, and let you start fresh.

You say he talks to other women. I’m assuming there’s more to it than talk because you certainly wouldn’t expect him not to talk to other women. That’s almost impossible in this day and age.

How do you let go? You just do it. You ask God to help you move forward, to provide for your baby, and to lead you along peaceful paths until you regain your confidence and your strength. Then ask Him to help you depend on Him until He sends you someone who will love you, marry you, and provide for you in the future. That is God’s best for you. Blessings, Julie
