 Facing our challenges head-on!
Challenges Women Face

October 28, 2016

Dear Julie,

I’m reaching out because you said our name is confidential. So there’s this guy I met at a business conference in February. He literally has all the attributes I look for in a man. He’s God fearing, handsome, intelligent. He lives in Arizona and I live in California. We’ve spoken over a dozen times since February, even had steamy chats via phone time. But he’s not moving forward in terms of asking me to visit or him visiting me. There’s been talk of it but no solid plans.

Lately in terms of his consistency in calling or sending texts it has dwindled down. When I speak to him I’m excited and I light up. He does say all the right amazing things but I’m getting bored with waiting. What should be my next step? Do you think I’m wasting my time? I’m really feeling this guy –Wanting Advice

Dear Wanting Advice:

What often happens at conferences is that people get swept off their feet because everything is new and exciting. And it’s all so anonymous! But when they return home, other obligations and relationships move back onto the front burner. Perhaps that’s what happened to the fellow you met.

I would advise you not to engage in any more steamy phone chats no matter how many right things he says. Talk is cheap, as I think you are finding out, and even then his calls and texts are dwindling.

The way I see it you have three options:
1) You can hang in there and be willing to wait if you feel this is someone you are really interested in,
2) You can move on and keep looking for Mr. Wonderful,
3) You can combine 1) and 2), maybe setting an arbitrary deadline beyond which you won’t wait. After all, you can’t wait forever.

God bless, Julie
